Odisha Videsh Siksha Bruti Scholarship Scheme 2026: On November 26, 2025, the Odisha government officially established the Videsh Siksha Bruti Scholarship Scheme to support SC and ST students who want to pursue higher education at highest-ranked international institutions. Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj launched the plan, which provides significant yearly financial help to eligible students.​

The Videsh Siksha Bruti Scholarship Scheme 2026 aims to support meritorious SC and ST students with limited family income in Odisha who wish to pursue graduation, postgraduation, or doctoral studies in foreign universities. The scheme was announced in November 2025 and will select 50 students per year through a strictly merit-based process. Eligibility criteria include being from Odisha, belonging to SC/ST categories, and having a family income of less than ₹12 lakh annually.

Caste certificates, income certificates, academic records, and proof of international university admission are all essential documents. Objective of Videsh Siksha Bruti Scheme

The Odisha government has taken a significant step toward empowering Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) students with the launch of the ‘Videsh Siksha Bruti’ scholarship scheme, aimed at supporting meritorious candidates to pursue higher education abroad.

  • Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj officially launched the scheme, which will be implemented in the academic year 2025-26.
  • Applications will be invited twice a year – in July-August and December-January.
  • Each year, 50 students will be selected for the scholarship. 
  • Each selected student will receive a scholorship of up to Rs 25 lakh per year to support their studies
  • The department issued appointment letters to 34 candidates in Group C and D posts across aided colleges under rehabilitation assistance.
  • The Odisha State Higher Education Council (OSHEC) is granted copyright to conduct Academic Performance Audits (APA) of higher educational institutions throughout the state.
  • Applicants must have secured admission to postgraduate or PhD programmes in the Top 200 QS-ranked foreign universities or institutions.
  • Applicants must belong to Scheduled Caste (SC) or Scheduled Tribe (ST) category
  • Applicants must be resident of Odisha.
  • Under the scheme, SC and ST students from families with an annual income of Rs 12 lakh or below will be eligible.
